João Carlos G. Borges

João is Director of Research and Management at the Aquatic Mammals Foundation and Professor at the Graduate Programme in Ecology and Environmental Monitoring, Federal University of Paraíba. His research is focused on the health of aquatic species, anthropogenic effects on marine resources, and development of remote monitoring technologies. In particular, he works on the conservation of manatees in Brazil, and is co-chair of the IUCN Sirenia Specialist Group–South America Region.
