NOTE: Temporary pause on new submissions.
We have received a large number of submissions in 2026, and Oryx is now closed for new submissions until 1 January 2027, to allow us to process the submissions so far received in a timely manner. Submission of Conservation News items, solicited content, revisions and resubmissions remains open, and the processing of manuscripts already received will continue.

At Oryx we work hard to support our authors before, during and after publication. We offer waivers and discounts to authors who lack the funds to pay for open access publication, and we provide a number of resources, including manuscript templates for your writing, a guide to help you prepare and refine your manuscript and figures prior to submission, and links to useful tools and resources for analysis, research and writing.

Guidelines for authors

Manuscripts need to be presented in a clear and consistent format to facilitate peer review. Check these Guidelines before submitting any material to us, and use our time-saving manuscript templates.

Submit your manuscript

Finished your manuscript? Check whether your text and graphics are presented appropriately, and that you have everything to hand for the submission process.

Software for research, analysis and writing can be costly to purchase, but free and/or Open Source software is often as good as, and sometimes better, than the commercial equivalent.
